By

Self-proclaimed gentleman, Ne-Yo has made a big move from original record label, Def Jam to Motown Records! This move isn’t your usual “more creative freedom” adventure, Ne-Yo will not only be recording under Motown but will conduct business on a corporate level, serving as Senior VP of A&R. See what Ne-Yo had to say for himself after the jump!

Along with producing, mentoring, and discovering new talent, the R&B hitmaker will be bringing along his pre-established Compound Entertainment to the legendary label.

We certainly don’t have to tell you that the singer/songwriter will bring a fresh energy to the restructured label. Ne-Yo shared, “I’m honored that I’ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility.” He also expressed a little anxiety with following in the footsteps of the legendary Smokey Robinson but, in his own words declared “Trust, I can handle it.”

Be sure to keep your ears open for Ne-Yo’s first Motown production, tentatively titled “The Cracks in Mr. Perfect.” The Summer LP will stand as his fifth studio album.
