It may not have been live, but R&B singer Jennifer Hudson’s rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” won the hearts of many Super Bowl viewers. Hudson’s performance of the national anthem, which is dubbed one of the best since Whitney Houston’s in 1991, is now available for download on iTunes. All proceeds from sales will go to the Hudson-King Foundation, set up in honor of the Oscar winner’s mother, brother and nephew, who were killed in October.
Although Hudson lip-synched to a prerecorded track on Sunday, it was a celebrated first step as she steps back into the spotlight. Next up for Jennifer Hudson – a live performance at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday and then another one Feb. 12 at the 40th Annual NAACP Image Awards. Hudson is also on the cusp of releasing her new video for the song “If This Isn’t Love.” And then it’s on to an even bigger next step.
According to Damien Smith, Hudson’s manager, Hudson is close to announcing a six week tour. “Everybody stay tuned,” Smith said. “You’ll be seeing a lot more of her.”
