BEYONCE RESPONDS TO BILLBOARD AWARD PERFORMANCE CONTROVERSY

By

Beyoncé wowed millions of viewers with her interactive performance of “Run the World (Girls)” at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards. But soon after she was faced with accusations of copying a previous performer. The Millennium Award recipient is speaking out following the barrage of criticism.

When I first heard about the accusations, I thought well here we go again. It seems to never fall, that Bey is accused of copying another artist with each new album, video or performance. If you haven’t seen it already watch the video above, and hear what Bey had to say below.

The pop superstar’s projection-based set drew comparisons to a 2010 performance by Italian singer Lorella Cuccarini. But B was aware of her predecessor. “My makeup artist showed me the performance of Lorella Cuccarini a year ago, and it inspired me so much,” she told AOL Music. “I then met with the talented people who worked on it. The technology and concept were so genius.”

She was inspired after discovering Cuccarini’s performance online. “Thank God for YouTube or I would have never been exposed to something so inspiring,” she added. “I never worked so hard on anything in my life as that performance for the Billboard Awards.”

One of the men behind the show stopper was new media artist and film director Kenzo Digital. He met with Beyoncé and worked non-stop on the production for a month before bringing it to life in Las Vegas. “[The Cuccarini artists] are awesome and do incredible work as well, but there are a lot of different inspirations for where our piece came from,” he told Yahoo! Amplifier.

“If anything, it’s a great example of how great of a performer Beyoncé is. It’s just a bare white screen. It’s a technique in video art since the ’80s in terms of frontal projection and interactive things. That’s really nothing new. It’s not even a new technology. It’s just an incredibly simple, awesome storytelling device, and with a performer like Beyoncé it becomes incredibly powerful.”

Kenzo hopes that fans will be able to relive the performance when B tours to promote her upcoming album 4. “It would be awesome,” he said, “but I don’t know what’s in store exactly.”

It sure was similar. I really do not mind artists being inspired by a previous design or concept, and in this case she did use the same creator. It’s not much different than using a similar shot or edit in a music video. Plus, we all know the classic saying, “Good artists copy, Great artists steal,” hahaha. It’s so true…

she has always stole another artist stuff she did an award show last year with a background of a lot of soldiers on film no one in the world has done nothing like that not no videos or performances or her concerts up till then and that was because michael jackson did it first in this is it .she also never did the leg shut and drop like that.when i saw that move it reminded me of ciara even her song sounds like ciara song work and the ball she was bouncing janet jackson did that in her video feedback the first to do ball illusion . janet and michael and the jacksons can you feel it video was the first.if you click on janet jackson billboard awards she is still the 1st and only to receive 8 awards in a single categorey she has her own style.artist has certain things that they do in their dance steps that they have invented and put their names on it .its not a step every body has a done like she said thank god for you tube or she wouldnt have been able to copy it (i mean be inspired by it thats what she calls it) janet jackson might be up in age click on janet tour for 2011 she starts her tour a little heavy but if you look at the concerts where she left from last week her weight dropped off she still do her moves but you see that maturity in her body but now she looks like she hasnt age at all a true icon a true legend and queen you dont see her copying nobody dance steps.beyonce has done black face she knows what our people has been through she gets her face bleached for cover girl her dances are white or italian oh i forgot she did say in an interveiw that she wished she was born the same race as j-lo .white people focus on black singers that they listen to and is always there its been beyonce, rhianna mary j when it comes to these shows you will see a total of 6 or 7 black performers through the whole show every years for decades that is why we have the black music awards so other black performers can get credit for their songs when was the last time you seen snoop, ice cube, ti ,e-40 get recognize its either jay-z usher was kayne till he shitted on taylor chris brown black eyed peas aint no way beyonce should have gotten awards for single ladies for two years there was other female artist with bigger hits and beyonce video is the weakest link

Yes, she used the same concept, but Lorella Cuccarini will never be able to perform the way Beyonce did! Say what you must, but you can’t ignore the fact, she was amazing!! Everyone was on they’re feet, expect for Keri Hilson, but that’s another story for a different day ; )-

JANET JACKSON WAS THE FIRST AMERICAN ARTIST TO DO THE SPECIAL AFFECTS SO THIS IS NOTHING NEW; GO LOOK AT JANET’S “FEEDBACK” VIDEO THAT CAME OUT IN 2008 YOU WILL SEE WHERE BEYONCE COPIED FROM AND THOUGHT NO ONE WOULD FIND OUT; JANET ACTUALLY USED THIS BEFORE THE ITALIAN STAR USED IT.
