The sweet sounds of Alicia Keys filled New York City on Tuesday morning for “Good Morning America.” The R&B songbird was breathtaking in a teal gown as she sat at the piano in the middle of a bustling Times Square and performed songs off her debut songs in A minor including “Fallin’” and “Butterflyz.” The album was re-released to stores today in celebration of its 10th anniversary.
“To be able to do this in the middle of New York City is the most special thing ever,” said the native New Yorker as fire engine sirens blared in the background. “It definitely was a big fight and a big struggle to get to that record. All the success that happened after it has been such a blessing. I think that struggle really makes me appreciate all that happens now.”
She will play “Piano & I: A One Night Only Event With Alicia Keys” at the Beacon Theatre on Thursday and has announced plans to co-produce the Broadway show “Stick Fly,” a comedy about a wealthy family named the LeVays that vacations in Martha’s Vineyard.
