Bruno Mars pours his heart out on the stormy “It Will Rain,” the lead single from the soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, in stores November 8. The Grammy-winning crooner imagines a painful breakup—that not even morphine can numb—over the haunting melody co-written and produced by The Smeezingtons.
“The Twilight movies for me [are] a love story. But it’s a dark love story,” Bruno tells Billboard. “And I think the best way to describe the song is: it’s the darker side of love. I think that pretty much sums it up.”
