D’Angelo’s comeback is becoming more and more official with confirmation from BET that he has signed on to perform at this year’s BET Awards.
BET broke the news Thursday morning, adding the soulful singer to a list of performers that includes Usher, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Big Sean and 2 Chainz. This will be the “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” singer’s first televised performance in over a decade.
“Usually, we love to keep surprises…but this year we want EVERYONE watching when D’Angelo takes the stage at the BET Awards!,” stated Stephen G. Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials. “His talents have been away from us for far too long and we’re excited and honored that he’s decided to make his American re-entry at this year’s BET Awards.”
As previously reported, D’Angelo is readying a new album and has been touring in recent weeks. He will also play the Essence Music Festival in July.
Hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, the BET Awards 2012 air Sunday, July 1 at 8/7c on BET.
