Multi-faceted industry legend Quincy Jones will be honored with the ASCAP Founders Award during the organization’s 25th annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. The invite-only event will be held June 29 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
Jones’s six-decade career as a musician, songwriter, producer, composer/arranger and label executive has netted him 27 Grammy Awards as well as the Grammy Living Legend Award. He joins such previous Founders honorees as Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney and Berry Gordy. In a statement, ASCAP president/chairman Paul Williams notes, “Quincy Jones’s contributions to the history of American music are immeasurable. He has had — and continues to have — a significant and long-lasting effect on the music community.”
The Rhythm & Soul Music Awards will also salute the songwriters and publishers of the most-performed ASCAP songs on the 2011 R&B/hip-hop, rap and gospel charts.
