It’s pretty much been a Kelly Rowland day. The R&B diva has been making the media rounds while in New York. She had her first performance since the Super Bowl, at the ‘Courvoisiology for Courvoisier’ launch party on Thursday. While, Kelly had a few interviews she shared the biggest news with Billboard.
Beyoncé and Michelle Williams will be appearing on her upcoming album Talk a Good Game.
“It’s not a Destiny’s Child track, it’s me featuring Beyoncé and Michelle,” Kelly told Billboard. As for the song’s sound? “Soulllllll,” is all she said with a laugh.
The record marks the ladies’ second recent collaboration and first since the Pharrell-produced “Nuclear,” which appeared on their recent compilation Love Songs.
The “Kisses Down Low” singer once again confirmed she has a song featuring Wiz Khalifa and a duet with Pharrell. Producers on the album include Pharrell, The-Dream, Mike WILL Made It, Boi-1da, and T-Minus. She previously recorded with Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, but those tracks won’t make the final cut.
Kelly recorded around 70 songs and had to narrow it down to 12. “I kept going back and forth with my A&R and my manager, we’ve all been on this incredible journey together, and they’re just like ‘Save it for the next album!’ Because you just get so passionate and excited about these songs, you lived with them, you birthed them along with the producers. You become so attached.”
“Talk A Good Game” takes its title from the song of the same name, one of Rowland’s favorite tracks on the album. “I decided to speak on what I was doing in my life. There’s so much talking and people gonna be like ‘Is she really talking about this on the album?’ Even down to things on ‘Kisses Down Low.’ People are like, ‘you’re talking a good game right now.’ I thought it would be really cool to name the album after those reactions.”
‘Talk A Good Game‘ is scheduled for release on June 4 via Universal Republic.
