Mariah Carey took the stage at the 2013 MLB All-Star Charity Concert in Central Park on Saturday, despite injuring herself while filming the “#Beautiful” remix video. The Pop icon made the best of it, covering her arm in fashionable slings as she performed with the New York Philharmonic.
“This is us being creative. We don’t wanna be seen in a sling,” said the pop diva (via Billboard) before starting the show.
She changed into glamorous ensembles while performing “#Beautiful” and “Looking In,” a piano ballad off her 1995 album Daydream that she’s never performed before live. She had to cut “We Belong Together” from the set due to her fractured ribs.
“Thanks all for the well wishes <3 Still in a lot of pain - cracked rib, fractured shoulder, bruises everywhere, but the show must go on," tweeted Mariah in the days leading up to the show.
She closed with "Hero," a tribute to Hurricane Sandy survivors.
