Just days after revealing the cover art for “Judith,” Dawn Richard unveils the artwork for “Valkyrie.” The singer rocks gold antlers and a gold mask on her head in the striking image, photographed by Solmaz Saberi.

Dawn held an online contest for her fans to choose between “Judith” and “Valkyrie” as the new single off her upcoming sophomore album Blackheart. “Valkyrie” was written by Dawn and produced by Noisecastle III.

“I wanted a record that was packed with confidence, a sort of cocky reminder that you will remember my mark,” said Dawn. “In Norse mythology, valkyries also known as choosers of the fallen, decided the fate of soldiers in battle once they died.”

“I thought the impression and mark they left on a soldier’s life was incredible,” she explained. “‘In the end you will remember me’ is what I felt they said as they chose the soldier’s fate. I want to leave the same imprint with my art and my music. In the artwork, the horns signify the bravery, strength, and power that existed in the valkyries.”

Dawn will reveal the winning song on iTunes on August 19. If you missed the cover for “Judith” take a look below:
