ThisisRnB TV caught up with singer/songwriter Elijah Blake on the red carpet of the 2013 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards on Thursday.
The buzzing hitmaker confirmed that he has a new EP in the work with producer and his label boss No I.D., the project will preceded his anticipated debut album.
Elijah also announced that he is back in the studio with Keyshia Cole working on her next album, which they are taking in a mature direction, focusing on her life as a wife and mother. He has also been cooking up some new tracks with Trey Songz, and revealed that Rihanna is about to start work on her next album (which is rumored to possibly be released by the end of this year!) and he plans to work on that soon as well.
We also asked him when fans should expect his debut album ‘Songs About Melody,’ which he announced will now be coming next year, most likely in the first quarter. The LP’s title was inspired by a relationship he had with a girl named Melanie, but for legal and personal reasons he switched it up to melody.
“You can’t have a song without a melody, so I feel those experiences I had with her were able to birth the album, and I feel my strong point as a writer is my melody and my lyrics, so I’m sayin it took her to create the stories, and it took my melodies to create this album,” he explained.
Check out the interview above, and stay tuned for much more from Elijah Blake, coming soon!
