Justin Timberlake is set to make VMA history. Not only has the pop superstar been announced as a performer at this month’s show, he will also be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
Prior to the release of The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 on Sept. 30, Timberlake will take the stage live from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m.
He will also be presented with the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award in recognition of his music videos. Past recipients include the King of Pop, Madonna, R.E.M., and the Beastie Boys.
Timberlake has won 14 VMAs throughout his career, coming only second to Madonna in total wins. But he may soon be adding more Moonmen to his collection.
He is tied with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for six nominations at this year’s show.
Other performers for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards include Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Robin Thicke, while Ariana Grande has been announced as a pre-show performer.
