This year we’ve seen one of the most impressive R&B album lineups to hit the shelves. What’s even more impressive though, is the back-to-back chart topping hits that have been pulled from each album and the impact they’ve had on the current state of R&B.
Since the top of the year, we’ve been blessed with the sounds of Chrisette Michele, Kelly Rowland, the big return of Justin Timberlake (who dropped two awesome albums in one year), John Legend, debuts from three of R&B’s most elite crooners, T.G.T., bad girl of the south, K. Michelle, and two of this year’s top breakout artists, Tamar Braxton and Ariana Grande.
But, it doesn’t stop there… Upcoming albums to be released in the remainder of the year include: Chris Brown, R.Kelly, Lyfe Jennings, Mario, and rumored albums from Mariah Carey, Beyoncé and Rihanna.
With all of the incredible LP’s that have already been released, it’s hard to not be excited about what’s to come!

Joe definitely hands down. Mr. Thomas represents real soul music. Even though, Justin, Robin, Fantasia, Ariana, Tamar, The Weeknd and K. Michelle will sell the most, out of the whole list.
LOL @ Joe’s Army of Angels showing him love, ain’t nothing wrong with that, he’s one of the few left in the genre to still do it. I haven’t heard the album so I am listening to it right now on Spotify as we speak (and it’s not bad so far, but I’m just not feeling it I guess to be honest, but then again, I’ve never bought a Joe album).
My favorites for the year were:
1. Janelle Monae – The Electric Lady, an awesome project in an already incredible discography. (Like you Angels, I (kinda) stan for Janelle Monae).
2. Kelly Rowland – Talk a Good Game. Kelly has gone back to her R&B roots and showed and proved with this album. I play the whole thing from start to finish when I’m cruising.
3. Justin Timberlake – The 20/20 Experience. Honestly has to be runner up for album of the year if they rob Janelle of it. (you know how they do black artists nowadays).
4. Ciara. This is one really dope, upbeat, uptempo album, and just like Janelle and Kelly’s album, I can play the whole thing from start to finish.
Honorable mentions go to John Legend, Fantasia and Donell Jones.
Its gotta be the 20/20 experience come on guys biggest comeback ever most sold album this year!!
K. Michelle, that album still gives me chills after 30+ spins. BTW: you should’ve put Mack Wilds on the list too, his album is dope as well!

I consider this album R&B, Feel Good by The Internet. This album is so smooth and full of numerous vibes. An album you can listen from start to finish and cool out to. Definitely worth a listen

I love Tamar, but she was on Kelly & Michael and I don’t know if it was the way it came threw the tv but I didn’t understand a word she was singing.

I voted rebellious soul , its a great album . You dont skip songs there all good songs . Her albun is the most realest out of them all . She writes her own songs and sings with her heart . . Its not all about the fame for hdr its really about the music . To everyone downing her and making her seem irrelevent you can stop . Tamar is a great vocalist but you cant really feel her music its not soulful . I think most the albums are good albums though . I think k.michelle definitly has one of the best albums this year . You cant deny talent . She plays piano , guitar , writes her own music , sings about her life and things that are true to her, and she can saaang .
