New Orleans native, August Alsina, premieres the music video for his new single, “Make It Home“.
Serving as the first release from his forthcoming debut album Testimony, due out April 15, the personal track features southern rapper Jeezy, who adds in a few bars of his own about life in the streets.
The visual, which plays out in reverse, reenacts what looks like a clip from one of his past encounters, young August is seen running through the city as he’s being chased by the police. Shooting to scenes of him writing lyrics in his room, the video shows a vulnerable side of the rising star that we don’t mind witnessing.
“As an artist, I struggle with how much of myself to give to the people,” said August. “Nothing is held back on Testimony. When people hear my story, and see that I came from nothing, they’ll see that it’s possible for them too.”
