Pharrell keeps the momentum going as he shares the stunning music video for “Marilyn Monroe,” the latest single lifted off his acclaimed new album G I R L. After receiving some unnecessary backlash over supposedly not featuring any African American women on his album cover, which he actually did, the hit-maker makes a strong statement for the beautiful dark skinned ladies with the official video promo picture, featuring model Khadija Shari.
“What I wanted to do is sort of reverse the connotation behind these statuesque standards of what beauty has to be,” Pharrell said about the song. “You can be every color, any shape, any size and any sexual orientation, because you’re a girl or a woman. We at I Am Other [his company] believe that what makes you different, is what makes you special.”
Rocking a red hat and even one with holes, Skateboard P performs alongside his female co-stars in a red, white, and blue room, in outer space, and on a rooftop overlooking downtown L.A. The racially-diverse dancers show off their moves in choreographed scenes by Fatima Robinson.
Kelly Osbourne also makes a cameo, delivering her line on the song.
