Following numerous random digital releases, Prince fans finally get the news they’ve been waiting for. The music icon has returned to Warner Bros. Records after nearly 20 years with a new partnership for the release of unreleased material, along with a brand new album.
According to a press release issued by Warner, under their new agreement the company will release previously unheard material and a digitally remastered, deluxe 30th anniversary edition of his 1984 soundtrack to Purple Rain. Additionally brand new material from the musician is on the way as well.
The deal is advantageous to Prince because it has granted him ownership and control over the master recordings of his Warner Bros. catalog, which they fought over for years.
“A brand-new studio album is on the way and both Warner Bros. Records and Eye are quite pleased with the results of the negotiations and look forward to a fruitful working relationship,” states Prince.
“Everyone at Warner Bros. Records is delighted to be working with Prince once again: he is one of the world’s biggest stars and a truly unique talent” Warner Bros. Chairman and CEO Cameron Strang said in a statement. “We are also very excited about the release of new and remastered music from one of his greatest masterpieces.”
Most recently Prince released the upbeat, catchy collaboration with Zooey Dechanel “FallInLove2Nite,” in addition to a handful of other new tracks, including “Breakfast Can Wait,” “Da Bourgeoisie,” “Groovy Potential” and more.
We are ready for this! Are you??
