Justin Timberlake is one of the most versatile singers that we’ve had the pleasure to see grow throughout the years. From his time in the lovable Pop group *NSync to flying as a solo brand, JT has done nothing but continue to make us love him and even more, his talent.

Sitting down with Oprah on her newest series Master Class, the lifetime heartthrob talked about how he actually missed out on an early collaboration with the legendary Michael Jackson. Stating that the popularized *NSync hit “Gone” was originally penned for MJ, Justin said that after he turned it down, they went on to cut it as a group. Circling back, MJ then decided that he wanted to indeed do the track, but only if it was to be a duet with himself and Justin. However, it was too late because they had already released the track as a group. JT stated that it was in that moment that he felt the confidence to actually do something on his own.

Now featured on Michael’s posthumous album, Justin finally got the duet that he’s waited so many years for.

Oprah’s Master Class episode featuring Justin Timberlake airs Sunday, May 11 at 10 p.m. on OWN. Until then, take a peek at the clips below and get ready to tune in.

mreagan88 you have to understand nsync was the biggest think since Michael Jackson at that time…. nsync was touring stadiums… m.j. was not even touring or working on a album.

BradleyGadsden That’s no true Gone was recorded and released before MJ released his final LP Invincible, I do believe JT when he said MJ was offered the song however I don’t believe for a second that he turned down a chance to record with his self proclaimed idol. JT is a good singer but he is a known liar and in another interesting twist Gone was written by JT and Wade Robson-the guy who claimed MJ molested him last year during the Jackson vs AEG trial.
