Well this should be interesting.
While Rihanna may be busy touring with Eminem on their Monster Tour, that hasn’t stopped the fashion icon from getting her business in order for next year.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Coldplay have been named by the NFL as the three contending stars to grace the stage at the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime show. Sounds great, right? Well think again.
Apparently this time around, the NFL is asking artists to “contribute a portion of their post-Suer Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig.”
OH OK.
In the past, performers have capitalized off of their exposure from the Super Bowl by seeing an increase in ticket and merchandise sales, but it seems as if the NFL is ready to do the same for themselves. What’s more interesting about this request is that the NFL doesn’t pay the act that performs at halftime.
Of course the performer hasn’t been solidified yet, but with Rihanna in the running, we can’t help but wonder if there’s some new music dutty wining our way soon. However, we’ll be tuned in on February 15, 2015 for Super Bowl XLIX!
