Tyrese is a Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter, actor, author, television producer, and former fashion model. He is also a member or R&B super group TGT. “Lately” was the third single released from his 1998 eponymous debut album Tyrese.
The single reached No. 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 12 on the R&B chart. The song stayed on the Hot 100 chart for a total of thirteen weeks. Anita Baker released a cover version of “Lately” to much acclaim on August 7, 2012, as the lead single from her album, Only Forever. The video features actress Maia Campbell and Tyrese in a luxury pad daydreaming about one another and writing love letters until they are finally reunited at the end.
