The talented Karina Pasian is finally back with new music, and she is sharing a strong, emotional message with her new single “Solitaire.” The piano laden ballad finds the singer/songwriter/musician pouring her heart out about a person who’s succumbed to suicide after a long bout with depression.
“It must’ve been hard to deal with the pain, inside you / Never could find a way to escape, I wish I knew, why you couldn’t see the beautiful things / And why the world was so unfair, you were playing solitaire,” she softly sings over lush keys.
The song is dedicated to the person who signed Karina to Def Jam in 2008, VP of A&R Shakir Stewart, who took his life on November 1 that same year. In remembrance, Karina wrote: “6 years ago today…. RIP Shakir Stewart. I thank God I got to experience your amazing energy. You were truly a blessing to this world and your spirit lives on through each and every life you touched.”
She appeared on ‘106 & Park’ this past Thursday to premiere the official music video for the new song, which features actor Tyler James. The video will be released online soon. In the meantime hear the heartfelt single below:
