Well it’s not an exact surprise anymore, like last week’s release of “The Hills,” but after a premature leak, The Weeknd is finally ready to serve up the official lead single off his much-anticipated next album.
The Max Martin-produced “I Can’t Feel My Face” has been confirmed as the LP’s first single, and it has been revealed that the track will be impacting radio on June 9!
If you have yet to hear the song in it’s leaked form, it is a pure example of how the Canadian star is starting to lean more and more toward the pop realm. The record also continues to show the singer’s affinity for Michael Jackson, which fans know was showcased outright with his impressive cover of “Dirty Diana” off his Echoes Of Silence mixtape, but now we get to hear a real direct connection between his influence and where the direction of his new album is going.
Martin provides a bouncy, synth-heavy, dance-friendly production as Abel compares his new love to a paralyzing drug.
“She told me don’t worry about it / She told me don’t worry no more / We both know we can’t go without / She told me you’ll never be alone,” he wails on the infectious chorus.
You might still be able to find the song floating around online, but now we know that we won’t have to wait much longer to hear the song in all it’s CDQ glory much longer.
