The single was written by Montell Jordan and Anthony “Shep” Crawford. The song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, where it remained for a record-breaking 14 weeks. The song chronicles one’s experiences with heartbreak, taking a break from exploring love, and new relationships.
