Texas native and modern-day soul man, Leon Bridges, has build a strong respect for his retro-styled songs and performances. His latest was created at the intersection of music and the visual arts.
The new creative initiative “Venue,” presented by VSCO, unveils a short film in which the singer/songwriter performs a stripped-down rendition of his song “Coming Home,” off his Columbia Records debut album of the same name. The unique performance was filmed on June 21, 2015 at the historic Old Bronx Borough Courthouse, a stunning turn-of-the-century building that’s only recently been reopened to the public after being shuttered for nearly 40 years.
This may be the most fitting stage yet for such a deceptively deep cut, performed in one take and opened with a powerful piece of prose. Watch and listen as Leon Bridges powerfully performs “Coming Home” in the old Bronx landmark below:
