R&B wins again as Jill Scott‘s new album ‘Woman,’ tops the Billboard 200 chart.
The Philly native’s fifth studio LP is her second to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200, moving 62,000 equivalent album units (58,000 in pure sales).
According to Billboard, Scott becomes the first solo woman to have a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 in nearly five months, following Kelly Clarkson’s Piece by Piece album in March. She is also the first R&B songstress to lead the list in a year and seven months, since Beyonce’s self-titled album spent its third and final week at No. 1 (on the chart dated Jan. 11, 2014).
Last week’s No. 1, Future’s DS2, slides to No. 2 in its second week with 52,000 units, while Tyrese’s Black Rose falls 3-10 with 26,000 units.
Congrats to Jilly from Philly!!
