“All Cried Out” is a song that was originally recorded by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam that appeared on their 1985 album Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force. The song hit No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1986, and also was a major hit on the R&B singles chart, peaking at No. 3.
In 1997, R&B group Allure covered the song on their eponymous debut album. Their remake of the single features fellow R&B group 112 and was produced by Cory Rooney, Walter Afanasieff and Mariah Carey for Carey’s short-lived Crave Records. Allure’s cover version became the group’s biggest hit and outperformed the original on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 4. Less than three months after its release, the single was certified gold; it ultimately sold over 800,000. “All Cried Out” charted on the Billboard Year-End charts for two years in a row.
