In a surprise move, Ciara returns today with some new music, and it’s an unexpected cover of the Rolling Stone’s classic “Paint It, Black,” recorded for the upcoming film The Last Witch + Hunter. Cici’s cover brings a haunting, psychedelic makeover which feels perfect for the Halloween season.
“I had never thought to cover this song,” she told Rolling Stone. “It was never on my radar to cover it, but when the opportunity came along, I was very thrilled, because I love what the producer Adrianne Gonzales did.”
She went on to explain that rock instrumentation is a sound she’s “always wanted to play with, and it just didn’t get any better than being able to cover a Rolling Stones song.”
In addition to her new cover, Ciara has announced that she will be going on the road again this fall for the second leg of her “Jackie Tour.” Part 2 of the month-long trek, presented by Topshop, kicks off Nov. 27 in Atlanta and travels across the U.S. and Canada, hitting cities including Orlando, Cleveland, Toronto, Detroit, Portland, and Anaheim through Dec. 20.
