Maxwell is back and it’s about damn time!
Please understand that it is with extreme gratitude, fire, and desire, that I sit here and type this, because hello, a new wind of Maxwell music is all we’ve been waiting for over here at ThisIsRnB!
Though it’s literally taken what seems like forever for us to receive even a hint of new music since the delivery of his overly appreciated 2009 album BLACKsummers’night, now that it’s here, I literally don’t know what to do with myself. Dropping his brand new single “Lake By The Ocean” at midnight, Maxwell has continued to literally push #MissionMeetMaxwell into full swing.
Engulfed with his sexy lyrics and falsetto, “Lake By The Ocean,” is the perfect segue into his second album in the trilogy, blackSUMMERS’night. Premiering the visual during his Facebook Q&A, the R&B veteran had this to say about #LBTO: “The song represents falling in love after a very tough trial period in life and finding contentment in the smallest things next to the biggest things. So, being able to be content in a lake when you have an entire ocean near you is, for me, the epitome of true happiness. That you don’t really need more; that you have more within the person that you’re sharing whatever that experience is.”
In the same Q&A session, Maxwell also delivered the news of his album release date. So, mark your calendars Maxwell fans, we’ll be receiving SUMMERS’ on Friday, July 1 and this will also be the night that he headlines at Essence Fest!
Unless Beyoncé delivers a new track or drops a surprise album today, this has definitely been the highlight of my week!
