Fantasia returns with the second single off her forthcoming fifth studio album The Definition of…. Following, “No Time For It,” the R&B vocalist delves into the country world, slightly, with the stirring Ron Fair-produced ballad, “Ugly.”
Blending some country chords with her now-signature Rock/Soul style, Tasia commands vocally, as always, and sings with powerful grace about self-love and topics such as image shaming, materialism, and finding happiness.
“Give me a rusty old rain silo, give me good food that sticks to my bones / Thank you for that good good man who loves me,” she sings.
On Thursday, the Grammy Award winner will make her national debut performance of “Ugly” on the series finale of “American Idol.” You can catch Fantasia on tour with Anthony Hamilton starting April 21.
