New Music: Maxwell – 1990x

Maxwell-1990x

Less than a month to go before Maxwell finally gives us his highly-anticipated new album blackSUMMERS’night, and now we get our second taste of the forthcoming LP with the brand new song “1990x.”

Unveiling the sensuously seductive song with a black-and-white lyric video, the soul rousing crooner continues his mission to impregnate the world, following the cinematic love story visual for “Lake By The Ocean.”

Maxwell vocally paints an intimate scene as space-themed visuals fill the lyric video, including clips of astronauts on the moon, along with close-ups of a couple kissing.

“There’s no song that defines it / There’s no music behind it / There’s no lyric to read from / There’s just you and the moment / Lay here closely beside me / Feel my heart as it’s poundin’ / I can climax with reason / Cause we’re grown, and we own it,” he sings.

Due out July 1, Maxwell’s new album is the second installment of his musical trilogy that kicked off 7 years ago with the acclaimed BLACKsummers’night. That album debuted at #1, snaring two Grammys and platinum-plus status, setting the stage for the ambitious follow-up. Maxwell is also gearing up for a North American summer tour in support of ‘blackSUMMERS’night,’ which begins on June 18 in Tacoma, WA (see tour itinerary below).

You can check out “1990x” below, and those that pre-order the album on iTunes now will receive both tracks as instant downloads.
