Solange and Beyoncé are the power duo we all want to be!
With Solange’s A Seat at the Table debuting at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s 200 chart, she and her sis Bey become one of the few siblings to both have a solo project hit No. 1.
They are definitely in good company, having done something that only the likes of Michael and Janet Jackson, and Master P and his brother Silkk the Shocker have successfully accomplished.
The siblings’ #BlackGirlMagic is even more impressive because the only other pair of siblings to both have an album debut at No. 1 in the same calendar year are Michael and Janet Jackson. Michael’s Invincible and Janet’s All For You both shot to the top of the charts in 2001. Between the two of them, Beyoncé now has six #1’s thanks to Lemonade, and Solange finally has her first with A Seat at the Table.
According to Nielsen Music, ‘Table‘ sold 72,000 equivalent albums in the week ending Oct. 6. Of that sum, 46,000 were traditional album sales, 3,000 in track equivalent album units, and 24,000 in streaming equivalent album units. That latter sum translates to 35.7 million on-demand streams for the album’s songs on streaming services.
The Knowles sisters did not come to play with us this year, and we are loving every second of it.
