August Alsina surprised many fans with his appearance at the 2017 BET Awards on Sunday (June 25). Only the day prior, he posted a photo on Instagram which showed him in the hospital or at a specialists office getting treatment for his liver disorder. The disease, which he just recently revealed to his followers last month, sent shock waves through his fan groups and much of the industry.
However, the New Orleans native seemed to be in much better spirits, and he wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to bring his new music to the BET audience with a special performance during the “Live! Red! Ready! Pre-Show.”
Wearing his hair in two large braids and rocking a colorful Versace shirt, the R&B heartthrob hit the outdoor stage accompanied by a group of dancers and an acoustic guitar player. Alsina delivered his first live performance of new single “Don’t Matter,” off his forthcoming third studio album, Drugs.
Following his performance he shared a message with his followers about his choice to perform. “Many Days I feel like shit, Today’s one of them but today I made a choice to P U S H thru,” wrote Alsina. “I’m praying until something happens, & I’m dilIgently WORKING through it all.
I’ve got faith and I’ve got faith that my faith is working.”
