PJ Morton is just trying to live a drama free life.
The singer/songwriter has released a playful music video for the song “Go Thru Your Phone,” off his new album, Gumbo. Addressing a common situation in today’s tech-filled dating world, the New Orleans native makes comedic light of trusting your partner and not checking out the private conversations in their cellphone.
Opening with an argument over that very moment, PJ and his beautiful video vixen push and pull at each other’s phone. Later, they are chilling in lounge chairs while his lady gets a pedicure and PJ tries to photobomb her selfies. Morton affirms her that everything is fine and has no desire to go through her phone, because he doesn’t want to have to fight the cliche ‘Big Daddy’ bodybuilder type.
“We work too hard to build this life / And that won’t change over something you type / There’s no need to worry, everything is in line / We’re in this forever at least in my mind,” he sings.
Speaking about his inspiration for the song and video, PJ says: “When I was writing the song I knew that it was a serious issue, but at the same time, kind of comical to talk about in song form. I wanted the video to reflect that. I wanted it to have a funny edge to it.”
PJ Morton is currently touring the U.S. on his “Gumbo World Tour,” which will travel through October. After his own trek culminates he will be joining Ledisi and Kirk Franklin as the supporting act on “The Rebel, The Soul and The Saint Tour.”
