Breakout singer-songwriter Khalid is certainly not “Young, Dumb & Broke.” The 19-year-old star is having an incredible year and this week it just got better as his debut album American Teen has been certified platinum by the RIAA.
“Earlier this year, I told myself that March 3rd was going to be the day to change my life,” he wrote on Instagram. “7 months later, American Teen is Platinum.”
While Khalid currently covers the new issue of Billboard magazine, along with fellow buzzing artists SZA and Julia Michaels, the crooner continued to share his talents with some major TV appearances. On Tuesday night, he was the musical guest on “The Late Show starring Stephen Colbert,” and he rose bright and early on Wednesday morning to perform on the “TODAY Show,” where he also announced his spring 2018 tour.
That’s not all. Just as American Teen surpassed the million sales marker, so did his singles, “Location” and “Young Dumb & Broke,” earning him three platinum plaques.
