Kehlani was beaming with joy as she walked the carpet at the 2017 Soul Train Awards on Sunday (Nov. 5) in Las Vegas. The singer/songwriter has been living her best life lately, and much of her happiness is attributed to her current romantic relationship.
Stopping for a moment to chat with HipHollywood‘s Ashley Williams, the Bay Area songstress shared how happy and proud she is to be in an “openly queer relationship.”
When asked about the importance of sharing her love on Instagram, the singer said, “life is just too short. It’s too short to have these weird rules about censoring love and not showing it.” Adding, “people need to know it’s okay, be gay and loud.”
Last week, Lani shared a sweet image of she and her “punkin” on Instagram, expressing her love. “I always think of how showing off love as an artist takes the mystery away… or distracts people from the music.. or just plain makes both parties vulnerable and open,” she wrote. The 22-year-old continued: “BUT, then eye think about how short life is and that every chance you get to scream your love (of any kind) into the universe, you should take… because it isn’t really guaranteed. If you got something special, don’t dim the light because you’re afraid of how bright it will truly shine. Im a grateful lil punkin.”
