SZA turned 27 on Wednesday (Nov. 8), and just as the TDE songstress was celebrating her birthday and incredible year, she received a platinum birthday gift. “The Weekend” — a song off her debut album Ctrl — earned a platinum certification from the RIAA.
“YO YALL TOOK A SONG THT WASNT A FUCKING SINGLE AND MADE IT PLATINUM!!!??” tweeted SZA. “AHH I LOVE U MORE THAN CHEESE! THANK U 4 THE BEST BDAY GIFT EVER.”

Prior to this, the Travis Scott-assisted “Love Galore” earned her first platinum certification from the RIAA. “The Weekend” and “Love Galore” appear on the gold-certified Ctrl. A deluxe version of the album is expected to arrive soon.
SZA’s next single will likely be “Doves in the Wind,” which features Kendrick Lamar. Last month, director Nabil posted a photo of the duo in the desert with two dove emojis, likely signifying that he directed the visual.
