After debuting the medley at the American Music Awards last month, Khalid and Imagine Dragons release the official recording of their booming mashup, “Thunder/Young Dumb & Broke.”
The electric collaboration opens with spare, slinky production led by heavy bass. But, it quickly builds up to the infectious “Thunder” with Imagine Dragons lead vocalist Dan Reynolds taking the driver’s seat.
The monster mashup caps a very strong year for both Khalid and Imagine Dragons. “Young Dumb & Broke” spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 22. Imagine Dragon’s “Thunder” remains at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, after having spent 33 weeks charting; the single peaked at No. 4.
“We have so much in common / We argue all the time / You always say I’m wrong / I’m pretty sure I’m right,” sings Khalid.
Khalid’s talent and hard work paid off immensely this year, receiving 5 nominations at the upcoming 60th Annual Grammy Awards. Next spring, he will embark on his headlining trek “The Roxy Tour,” which includes stops in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Philadelphia and more.
