As promised, Justin Timberlake steps out of the woods with the second release from his anticipated new album Man of the Woods.
After giving fans “Filthy,” the pop superstar has unveiled his futuristic reunion with Pharrell on “Supplies.”
Teaming up with Dave Meyers for a socially-conscious and politically-charged video, Timberlake is found sitting in an empty penthouse staring at a wall of television screens. Flashing before him are images of police brutality, Black Lives Matter, Harvey Weinstein, the Time’s Up movement, President Trump, and more.
It’s a stunning, sleek visual filled with movie level special effects and powerful imagery across Los Angeles. At one point, J.T. and Pharrell show up with a team of dancers in front of the Los Angeles Public Library. Later, a pyramid is blown up on a city rooftop.
“I got supplies,” sings Timberlake, while zooming through the night before the post-apocalyptic finale. In the end, a child looks at the screen and screams: “Just leave. Die already. You’re still asleep. Wake up!”
“Filthy” and “Supplies” are set to appear on Man of the Woods, which features contributions from Alicia Keys, Chris Stapleton, and Timberlake’s 2-year-old son, Silas. He plans to release two more songs weekly leading up to the album’s Feb. 2 release, followed by his Super Bowl halftime performance on Feb. 4.
