Bridget Kelly is back. After splitting with Roc Nation and joining the cast of “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood,” the R&B songstress is readying her long-awaited debut album Reality Bites. Today, she unleashes the first single “Sedated.”
The video showcases different sides of the vocal powerhouse. She starts the clip in a neon-lit warehouse before a lingerie-clad Bridget seduces viewers in a hotel room. “I’m intoxicated,” she sings. “Trying to stay sedated.”
“‘Sedated’ is a metaphor for how intoxicating love can be when you have ended up on the wrong side so many times,” she told Billboard. “Women are so strong, yet experience many unique pressures. ‘Sedated’ is a narrative that explores the want and desire for love juxtaposed with the fear of the challenges and hurt that can come with it. The real that comes with it.”
The Isaac Yowman-directed clip also captures that dilemma from different angles. “It’s sexy, angry, restless and bold all at the same time,” she said. “My video director Isaac Yowman used some cool visual effects to creatively captured that internal struggle.”
The New York-bred singer is now prepping her full-length debut album Reality Bites for release on April 27. Check out the video for “Sedated” above, the song is available on all digital music platforms now.
