Singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Azekel shares the video for the second chapter of his forthcoming debut album, titled ‘Mental Health.’
The album is being unveiled in three chapters, each centered on a specific narrative (‘Family,’ ‘Mental Health’ and the forthcoming ‘Youth’), before being weaved together as a short film accompanying the full record when it is released later this year. ‘Mental Health’ features the recently released trio of songs “Pyramids & Starships,” “Loading” and “Hollow.”
The video, directed by The Rest (Kojey Radical, Little Simz) is an extension of the beautifully realized ‘Chapter 1’. Using a bold and rich tapestry of text, images and colors, Azekel releases his music and visuals with a deeply personal commentary on his own experience alongside wider observations in society; nuanced, intelligent and politicized.
Following a recent surprise set at the Onyx Collective London show alongside Nick Hakim, being handpicked by Kojey Radical to perform at his ENDLESS showcase at Jazz Café and a spellbinding headline show at St Pancras Old Church last month, watch out for further live dates to be announced shortly.
