Following the release of 3 critically-acclaimed EPs, powerhouse vocalist Jacob Banks announces his eagerly-awaited debut album Village, is due out November 2 via Interscope Records. Along with the announcement of Village’s release date, the Nigerian-born Brit drops the new single “Be Good To Me” featuring singer/songwriter Seinabo Sey. Produced by xSDTRK (Usher, Jennifer Lopez) and Laleh Pourkarim (Ellie Goulding), the track is a liberating exploration of love and longing that showcases both Jacob’s and Seinabo’s soulful vocals.
“Please be good to me / Or save my soul and lead me home,” sings Banks. “I’ve been runnin’ for far too long / Please be good to me.” Seinabo responds with her own affirmations of their requests for pleasant partings. “My time is yours, waste it carefully,” she sings. “If you hit and run, do it gracefully.”
Village is Jacob’s first full-length album, following his breakout, outstanding EP The Monologue, plus The Paradox EP, and his Interscope Records debut project The Boy Who Cried Freedom. Working alongside renowned producers including Paul Epworth (Adele, James Bay, FKA twigs) and Malay (Frank Ocean, Sam Smith, Lorde), Village is a collection of 14 original tracks that chronicle Jacob’s experiences and takes on life with narratives that are both personal and universal. Jacob states, “Village is about celebrating the things that make us who we are, the good, the bad, and the questionable.”
The album is available for pre-order now. Listen to “Be Good To Me” below.
