It’s been nearly three years since we last heard from up-and-coming singer Mikhala Jené, but sometimes it’s worth the wait. The North Carolina bred, Los Angeles based artist sends sensual vibrations through our bodies with the brand new single “Stay.”
Boasting an Aaliyah vibe to the overall sound, Jené sets the scene for intimacy with her lover as their connection finds her dizzy in love.
“Break your heart for years / Edges fallin’ out,” she sings. “Have you all stressed out / Baby, got me / Dizzy, dizzy / Feeling, your touch / Tricks me.”
The accompanying visual, directed by the songstress and Victoria Sanders, shows a topless Mikhala being intimate and seductive with the camera.
“Stay” is the first release off her forthcoming debut album, Carolina Blues, due out October 19. The project is said to parallel the journey of chasing love and a dream and finding yourself in every shade in between. Mikhala Jené has been working closely with Roc Nation producer Deputy (Rihanna, J.Cole, Nas) who produced her debut EP, ‘The Prelude‘ as well.
