R&B artists are delivering this holiday season. Following the official announcement of John Legend’s upcoming Christmas album, soul impresario PJ Morton couldn’t hold his secret any longer. The New Orleans native has revealed his plans to bring season’s greetings this year.
Taking to social media to share the news, the crooner revealed that he’s always wanted to do a holiday album, and now that dream is coming to reality on November 9. The project is simply titled Christmas with PJ, and the merry LP is expected to feature covers of six holiday classics along with two originals.
“I was supposed to hold this secret a little longer ?.. But then I saw @johnlegend announce his yesterday and couldn’t hold it any longer!,” he wrote on Instagram. “So I’m announcing mine too! .. Christmas music is my favorite! Been wanting to do this forever.. Can’t wait til you all hear it!”
To create more excitement for the project, PJ shared a snippet of his rendition of “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” by Mariah Carey.
Ahead of releasing his holiday album, Morton is continuing his “More Gumbo Tour” overseas in support of his Grammy-nominated album. In November, he will return to the States and perform in 19 cities with special guest Grace Weber.
Morton also told fans that once Christmas with PJ drops, all songs “are fair game on this tour.”
