ThisIsRnB.com had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with world renowned living legend, inspirational pianist, singer, songwriter, and one of the most influential gospel artists of all time, Richard Smallwood. He offers a glimpse of what it’s like being a multi-award winning artist, musical producer, and being celebrated around the world.
His influential reach spans across genres as he has inspired r&b singers such as Whitney Houston, and Destiny’s Child making renditions of his recordings. The Howard University alumni reminisced on the incredible experiences and lifelong friendship with accomplished artistic minds such as Phylicia Rashad, Debbie Allen, and being mentored under the tutelage of the late Donny Hathaway, and Edwin Hawkins. Smallwood dived into his new book, “Total Praise, The Autobiography of Richard Smallwood.” The book sheds light on the chronicles of his life, success and touches on some of his trials including mental illness.
