R&B chanteuse FKA twigs has released a very ambitious and creative EP titled “Caprisongs.” This is a wonderful mix of R&B melodies, pulsing pop, and stylistic signatures that we previously noted could only be described as distinctly twigs.
As twigs describes “Caprisongs;” “is my journey back to myself through my amazing collaborators and friends.”
The project, a 17 track mixtape album features artists Daniel Caesar, Shygirl, Rema, Jorja Smith and more. “Caprisongs”also features “Tears in the Club” a previously released collaboration with “The Weekend.”
The process and how the mixtape came to be was shared by ‘twigs’ over multiple tweets ” In the first lockdown i called around my team hinting that maybe i had hit the end of the road making music and putting my insides on blast…, as our lives got smaller and there was less to talk about, i found the search for connection even the most simple conversation comforting…, I started recording my friends talking and weaved it through the mixtape like a narrative of my healing…, to reach out and collaborate with other artists and also to push myself to channel my pain and anxiety into work that felt more inclusive… I have fallen back in love with music, danger, trying new things, sex, love, raves.”
“Caprisongs” is a relatable album centering on the yearning for connections and semblance of life as we once knew pre-pandemic.
