Pioneering Media Mogul Cathy Hughes confirmed to Be Honored at the 10th Annual Black Women Film Network

The Black Women Film Network (BWFN) is confirmed to honor media mogul Cathy Hughes at its 10th Annual BWFN Summit . The event will be held on March 22, 2025, at the Loudermilk Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hughes, the Founder and Chairwoman of Urban One, Inc., will receive the prestigious “2025 BWFN Sheryl Gripper On Her Shoulders Preservation Award. ” A pioneer in media, Hughes became the first Black American woman to chair a publicly held corporation and built the largest Black-owned media conglomerate in the U.S.

The event will also feature a conversation on mentorship, hosted by Spelman College, as part of the HBCU ‘”First LOOK Film Festival.”

The Summit, themed “Plot Twist: The Art of the P’ivot,” will also feature honorees including actress Aja Naomi King and industry leaders from Tyler Perry Studios, Disney, and Apple Music. Attendees can enjoy fireside chats, panels, and networking opportunities.

Tickets for the 10th Annual BWFN Summit range from $25 to $75 and can be purchased at blackwomenfilm.org.
