“Vacancy” an album by Grammy-nominated powerhouse,R&B artist Ari Lennox is a masterpiece of tracks that can fit any season you may be in: in love, chillin or fed up.
Ari Lennox’s third studio album, Vacancy, features the single “Soft Girl Era” released earlier this year, which charted on Billboard’s Adult R&B airplay chart, and was the most added song on urban radio play in April 2025.
This Lennox’s third studio album features 15-tracks that are diverse as far as lyrics, song concepts and even the feel of the music itself ranging from Pop, R&B and Neo Soul.
Lennox sings on the themes that typically come with her music, self care, love and being vulnerable.
The album title track “Vacancy,”has that Neo Soul vibe. Lennox uses metaphors, speaking of things that need to be touched up or fixed in her crib-one of her tables has shaky legs, and the walls need a little paint, rearrangement and TLC.
This song will make you use your imagination. And picking this track as the album title really points to what the album is about- being in a space of trying to see what’s working in your life and love. There may be a vacancy, but it may not last long.
It’s a song that just makes you feel good. And it makes you think of the possibilities that could be if that vacancy in your life was filled.
“Mobbin in DC” is the intro track. The song gives a soul, 1920s vibe with the trumpet and the scat of the high hats. Lennox also delivers a jazzy and soulful performance.
“Mobbin in DC” talks about it being late at night and wanting to see that someone special. She’s even willing to travel, but he needs to let her know and make the move.
She tells him to just hit her up and say what he wants, because “we’re grown.” This song actually makes a good point. If more people would be more honest of what they want out of a friendship or relationship, life would be easier. Just say it!
“You know where I stay/ You know where I be/ This ain’t calculus, no Chat GPT/ Tired of you sayin that your missin me/ You know my location mobbin in DC.”
Now “Cool Down” has a pop vibe to it- think Sabrina Carpenter meets soul. This song is a good “pick me up” if you need to hear something to get you motivated. When you’re going through tough times it’s a blessing to have that person you can call on no matter how late, to tell you that’s it’s going to be okay,
Lennox also talks about slowing down and not being in a hurry- take life in and enjoy the good at the moment. You’ll always find something bad if you’re looking for it.
“Cool down/ Nothing left to do right now/ You already figure me out/You already figure me out/ You making me proud, making me proud”
Bottom line, if you want an album that will take you on a journey of heartfelt emotions, while listening to Lennox’s soulful voice, this is it! You’ll feel happy, seductive, sultry, and maybe rethink some acquaintances at the same time.
In support of the album, Lennox kicks off her 312 city North American tour produced by Live Nation on April 12. for more information and to purchase tickets click here.
