Sam Collier and Kendrick Dean latest  R&B single, “That’s What I’m Here For,” a ballad of redemption, faith and love

Author, pastor, speaker and personality Sam Collier is proving that it’s never too late to finish what you started or give love a second chance with his latest single, “That’s What I’m Here For.”

The R&B track, which was released Feb. 27, is in collaboration with Grammy-winning, super producer and songwriter, Kendrick Dean.

Dean has worked with stars such as Mariah Carey, Chris Brown, Trey Songz and Monica.

Collier said the song was written 15 years ago, but was never released. He said other R&B male artists even wanted to record the song.

If you’ve ever been in recovery from a break up or scared to love again, even if you have someone willing to love you, “That’s What I’m Here For,” is a testament of that situation. The song is about being open minded to receive the love that you deserve, even after you’ve been hurt and given your love to the wrong person.

The track has a contemporary/90s R&B vibe- calming and soothing, but with a powerful message. Your heartbreak is not the end, but it’s only the beginning.

Although Collier hasn’t released his own music in years, his voice is no stranger to the booth. His delivery of the song is confident and reassuring.

And although it’s a R&B song, restoration, which is faith-based, is a pillar of the song. And his passion and his testament can be heard in his performance of the song as well.

“I was in a low season in December and God told me to put this song out,” Collier said. “I thought it was a joke. And He (God) said it three more times. I said, “not gospel?”

He said “no.” Your life has represented divorce for two years. It’s time for you to promote and celebrate love.”

Collier announced in Dec. 2023 that he and his wife were divorcing.

Collier said “God created love. God IS love.”

“So, singing about it is our right as Christians,” Collier said. “So many struggle to love as well in the church. The divorce rate is the same inside the church as much as outside. Maybe we need more love songs by Christians-not less.”

Collier released this song through his record label, Story Records in collaboration with Rolling Out Music.
