P J Morton Releases Two Masterpieces In All Within 1 Week & We Still Can’t Get Enough Of His Music

By

New R&B Single “MUTUAL” & Gospel Track “MERCY” are two new works of art in PJ Morton’s cannon of Grammy-winning hits

When 6x Grammy-nominated recording artist-songwriter- music producer P J Morton released “Mutual” on April 3rd, via Morton Records / SRG-ILS Group, he took to social media to announce it with a post that read  “My new song #Mutual is out! Love is a vulnerable thing. Always be reassured that the feelings are mutual.”

I can sense your apprehension/ Don’t want to mention how far you’re falling/ But let me put your mind at ease/ And show you I’m all in, just like you,” he sings in the first verse. Co-written with his nephew E J Ross – it’s a colorful, soulful, harmonic hit that somehow makes you feel the power of love with the very fibers  of your being.

“I took some time last year to get inspired about new solo music,” says  Morton. I’ve been fortunate enough to create in so many different spaces. This year I want to explore all of those fully with no limits.” His newest releases comes after a recent series of releases with Angelique Kidjo, Moonchild, Darrel Walls, La Reezy, Netflix, and many more.

As God continues to pour blessings over him time and time again, Morton’s latest release serves as a powerful reminder that no matter how high we rise, we all must humble ourselves—falling to our knees and crying out for Mercy.

Accompanying the release is a deeply moving visual, where Morton stands before a church, delivering heartfelt melodies that resonate with raw emotion and unwavering faith.

“Here you go again making a way for me/ Even when I was too blind, I was too blind to see/ Thinking I knew too much, getting in my own way aye/ Almost lost my life but you made ole death behave/ And I don’t understand why because I know I don’t deserve it,” he sings in the first verse of “Mercy.”

Just last week Morton celebrated his birthday with Stevie Wonder, Susan Carol, Ogi, J. Ivy and Ledisi at LA’s Blue Note. Earlier this year, he was on the heels of earning his sixth career Grammy and 22nd nomination. Both “Mutual” and “Mercy” was recorded at Studio In The Country, his very own recording studio.

Morton will make his solo debut at Rock in Rio this summer, following upcoming performances at the French Quarter Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, AFRAM Festival, and the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre.
