The past year has been a real positive ride for Kelly Rowland. The Destiny’s Child alum finally found tremendous success as a solo artist, and we can only expect more great things to come. Music fans and the industry agree, but Kelly will be officially honored for her achievements by Essence!
The respected outlet will host their 3d Annual Black Women In Music gala on February 8th (prior to the Grammy Awards) and have chosen Rowland and music executive Sylvia Rhone as the night’s honorees.
Speaking on why the singer was chosen, ESSENCE editor-in-chief Constance C.R. White said:
“We’ve watched Kelly Rowland for over a decade grow from a teenage sensation into an international superstar. Her talent, drive and remarkable creative force show what it truly means to be a young powerhouse in an ever-changing industry. Kelly embodies the ‘soul’ of young Black women through her music and we are proud to salute her dynamic contributions.”
The “Motivation” singer will also perform at the pre-Grammy event.
Weldone Essence for recognising Kelly’s talent. She is just a lovely, hard-working girl!
