As reported yesterday, via AOL’s The Boombox preview, Ashanti’s anticipated new album shares the same name as a popular ’90’s movie. The title has now been revealed with the above promo image. “Braveheart” will be the fifth studio album from the R&B chanteuse and is expected to hit stores as early as April 17th via her own label Written Entertainment/E1. The image reflects Ashanti dressed as a warrior, which is taken from the music video for her lead single “The Woman You Love” featuring Busta Rhymes, that is expected to premiere today.
Speaking on the album the 31-year-old singer said, “I’m out of my comfort zone, I’m touching on deeper topics and real life experiences.”
The LP is expected to boast collaborations with major R&B stars such as R. Kelly and Keyshia Cole, and include production from Jerry Wonda, Rico Love, The Bizness, Hit-Boy, Warryn Campbell, Danja and possibly Dr. Dre.
We like that title actually, and the whole image thing is cool, but the music better mirror this warrior of love concept, and hopefully Ashanti can really deliver that raw emotion and connection.
What do you think of Ashanti’s album title?? Are you interested in the album??
It’s a little to the left image-wise but I wish her the best of luck. Being an independent artist and managing finance, A&R, promotion and performing must be a lot to juggle!
